Email Marketing for Yoga Teachers: Use This Method to Grow Your Email List Like Wildfire

Yesterday I sat down and wrote a love letter to my community. I popped it in an email template and I hit ‘schedule.’ It sent automatically this morning while I was making my coffee.

This is a complete 360 from the way I used to create content:

  • Staring at a blank Google Doc feeling completely stuck on what to say and how to promote myself.
  • Spending an hour scrolling through reels to try to get inspired to create my own.
  • Feeling like I am saying the same thing over and over again and no one is listening.
  • Spending hours writing the perfect thing only to get two likes and no sign ups.

This is not my reality anymore. Creating content and sending it out each week gets to be fun, effective, service-oriented, AND profitable. I can SEE it working right before my eyes and it makes me giddy. Because I get to serve my clients and get paid.

That’s why I am so fired up about helping Yoga Teachers establish email marketing as a method of self-promotion. If you missed it, I just published a separate article on my top 3 favorite ways to grow your list.

#3 in that article was “Create a Lead Magnet.” And because I love to help guide you through this process, I want to break this method down so you can start to use it to grow your list (it’s my favorite way!).

So, What’s a Lead Magnet?

There are many different ways that the marketing community refers to this type of content — lead magnet, freebie, gated content… I’m sure there are others.

Here’s the concept:

  • You create a really valuable evergreen piece of content like a guide or a video
  • In order for someone to get access to that content, they have to put their email into a landing page form
  • Once they put their email in, you send them the freebie and add them to your list

This is an incredibly simple and effective way to get new people rolling into your list. Plus, once you’ve created one freebie, the process is automated and passive. You can do this time and time again with different resources in order to continually bring new people into your list.

Email Kickstarter Guide

If this concept is getting you fired up, I have something for you. I created the Email Kickstarter Guide to give you 10 freebie ideas specifically for Yoga Teachers. You can download that here.

Once you’ve read through that, you are ready to create your first freebie! How exciting!

Things to Consider Before You Create Your Freebie

Now that you’re feeling inspired, here are a few things to consider before you create your freebie:

  • Make it Relevant: To ensure the most successful freebie, loop it into something you already offer or teach. For example: If you regularly lead workshops on arm balances, consider theming your freebie around that topic.
  • Make it Evergreen: Remember this is supposed to be easy. Can you create something that you are able to use and market over and over again to grow your email list?
  • Keep it Simple: We want to create something people can easily read through and implement. I wouldn’t recommend a 50 page guide on something complicated. Think about giving them an easy win. When they are done taking the piece of content in, what actionable item, deliverable, or outcome do they have?

The Freebie Formula

Once you create your first freebie, it’s time to implement what I like to call the Freebie Formula. It’s a step-by-step process that looks something like this:

  • Create your freebie
  • Build your landing page
  • Build your automation

Once everything is set up, it will start to roll without you having to lift a finger. That’s the beauty of email automation!

Luckily, I’m making sure you don’t have to do this work alone. The Freebie Formula workshop is completely free to join and will walk you through implementing these steps.

I’m really excited to walk you through this process!

Happy Emailing :)
